Set a syllable count, generate real verified words or invented ones that still sound natural, and copy what you need — free, no sign-up, runs instantly in your browser.

How to Use the Syllable Generator
Getting a list takes three steps. First, choose a syllable count from one to five. Second, enter a starting or ending letter if you want a specific pattern — both are optional, so leaving them blank searches the whole word list. Third, tap Generate Words and up to ten results appear immediately, with nothing to download and no extra setup.
From there, tap Regenerate for a fresh batch with the same settings, or Copy All to grab the whole list at once. Switching between Real Words and Invented Words is instant and keeps your syllable count and letter rules in place.
Real Words vs. Invented Words: How It Works
Real Words draws from a bank of more than two thousand common English words, each checked against a verified pronunciation source and broken into its syllables — so the count you see is accurate, not estimated. Useful for reading practice, vocabulary building, or learning a real word instead of guessing.
Invented Words builds each word from the three parts that make up a syllable: an onset (opening consonant sound), a vowel or vowel pair at the centre, and sometimes a closing consonant. You set the shape, and it fills in the rest from real phoneme sets rather than random letters — which is why a made-up word like varelin or tomrek still reads naturally. Style narrows the mix: Soft favours gentler sounds, Strong favours harder ones, and Any combines both.
In either mode, the starting and ending letter apply on top of syllable count, letting you define a consistent pattern across a whole batch rather than scanning unrelated results one at a time.

Try the Syllable Counter →Character & Fantasy Names
Set the same syllable count and style across a few generations to keep a family resemblance across a cast of characters or a fictional kingdom. Real Words suits grounded, human-sounding characters; Invented Words suits anything that shouldn’t sound like an everyday word.

Generator FAQ
How do I generate a word with an exact syllable count?
Select the syllable count from the dropdown, then generate. Every Real Words result matches that count exactly, since it comes from a verified pronunciation source rather than a guess.
Can I generate words that start or end with a specific letter?
Yes — use the two letter fields above the Generate button. Leave either blank to skip that filter.
What’s the difference between Real Words and Invented Words?
Real Words are genuine English words verified against a pronunciation dictionary. Invented Words are newly assembled from real syllable patterns, so they feel natural without being actual dictionary entries.
Is this good for a band, a fantasy character, or a product?
Yes, all three are typical uses. Fantasy and brand contexts especially benefit from Invented Words.
Do generated words repeat, and can I download the list?
Each batch avoids duplicates within itself. There’s no download button yet, though Copy All lets you paste the batch straight into a document or spreadsheet.
Does this need an internet connection after it first loads?
The word list loads once and then runs entirely in your browser — though the first load does require a connection.
What happens if no words match my filters?
If your syllable count and letter combination has no matches, you’ll see a clear message rather than an error.
Is this the same as a random word generator?
It’s narrower by design — a general random word generator ignores syllable count, while this one filters by syllable count and letter constraints first.
